Head of SPG Spectroscopy

In our Analytical Chemistry business unit, we are proud of what we do, customer centricity is part of our culture, and we bring customer value through our solution expertise. We design and produce innova-tive measuring instruments that have an excellent image and footprint in the market. To strengthen the Analytical Chemistry business unit leadership team we are looking for a versatile business leader that enjoys taking a business to the next level and exploring new market opportunities. Be part of our diverse and engaged team as Head of SPG Spectroscopy 80 – 100% (all genders) 

In this role, your responsibilities would include: 
  • You are responsible for the spectroscopy product portfolio (SPG – Strategic Product Group) consisting of two product portfolios.
  • You drive the business forward based on agreed product roadmaps and budgets including profit & loss responsibility.
  • You identify growth potentials and business opportunities analyzing the relevant markets and competi-tors. You ensure that the product portfolio is well differentiated and positioned to grow METTLER TO-LEDO’s s market leadership for the portfolio.
  • You define yearly action plans (marketing campaigns, country growth programs, product development activities) including sales targets in cooperation with our market organizations and with support from market management.
  • You act as a sponsor in R&D projects (new product or application developments, pre-studies) in order to enhance and develop new products and improve our products and services.
  • You drive the marketing strategy and execution together with your team.
  • You lead a team of product managers and a business development and marketing manager.
  • You are a member of the management team from the analytical chemistry business unit.
What You Need to Succeed
Following requirements are necessary for this role: 

  • You have a BSc or MSc in Natural Science; preferably Biochemistry, Chemistry or similar
  • You have a solid understanding of the lab instruments market and gained experience in the life science market
  • Experience in building up a new business and developing new markets is a strong plus.
  • Fluent language skills in English, German is a big advantage.
  • You are self-driven, proactive and have an independent working style.
  • As an empathic and self-confident person, you have excellent communication, listening and moderation skills
  • Your good business sense and strong analytical skills, excellent stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills round up your profile
