Service Technician I

Are you detail‑oriented, mechanically skilled, and motivated by hands‑on technical work? Join our team as a Depot Service Technician, where you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the precision, reliability, and performance of industry‑leading pipettes used in laboratories worldwide.

As a Depot Service Technician, you will test, clean, repair, and reassemble Rainin pipettes as well as pipettes from other manufacturers. You’ll conduct mechanical and electronic measurements, perform inspections, and ensure every unit meets strict quality and compliance standards.
You will report to the Pipette Service Supervisor and receive day‑to‑day direction from the Lead Depot Technician.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble pipettes and related equipment
  • Inspect returned units and identify component defects
  • Ensure all repair work meets established quality and performance standards
  • Complete service documentation including worksheets, repair estimates, and part usage
  • Process priority orders within the database system
  • Contribute to meeting established turnaround‑time goals
  • Follow customer-specific instructions, including additional part requests
  • Perform testing procedures on pipettes and equipment
  • Carry out detailed evaluations to ensure all pipettes meet required specifications
  • Enter all service information into the database accurately
  • Track parts usage and move orders to the next stage of the workflow
  • Secondary Duties
  • Receive incoming repair orders: verify contents, log deliveries, and record incoming units
  • Monitor incoming pipettes for contamination using radiation safety tools, and apply appropriate labeling
  • Support Saturday Service Program by working weekend shifts when scheduled
What You Need to Succeed
Education and/or Experience:               
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum of 1 year of related experience in Manufacturing, Instrumentation repair and maintenance, and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and prior work experience. 
  • Previous knowledge or work experience with pipettes preferred.                       
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.  
  • Ability to effectively present verbal information to customers and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and a working knowledge of common Microsoft Office programs.
