Expert Platform & Systems Engineer
위치 Nänikon, 취리히 주, 스위스 등록일 2026년 10월 30일 공고 ID 23476Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
Within the AutoChem Business Unit, we build software that powers automated lab reactors used in scientific and industrial research around the world. Our systems help chemists and engineers design, execute, monitor, and analyze experiments with greater precision, safety, and efficiency. Our ecosystem and platform include a hardware abstraction layer, instrument terminal software, mature desktop software for instrument control, and locally deployed, cloud-ready applications for data orchestration and management, field service, and production assembly support. We work at the intersection of hardware and software, where engineering quality has a direct impact on product reliability and customer trust.
To strengthen the team and to take our platform to the next level, we are looking for an experienced Expert Platform & Systems Engineer (all genders) 100%. You will provide hands-on technical leadership for our cloud-ready application platform and DevOps foundations. Working with our architects and engineering teams, you will turn platform direction into implemented, adopted, and supported capabilities, while contributing system-level expertise where hardware and software meet.
In this role you will take on the following tasks:
- You own and evolve the shared platform behind our locally deployed, cloud-ready applications for data orchestration, instrument control, field service, and production assembly.
- You implement reusable foundations for hosting, identity, configuration, data, messaging, integration, observability, security, and application lifecycle management.
- You own DevOps across the software suite, including environments, build tooling, Azure DevOps pipelines, deployment automation, Terraform, packages, artifacts, security controls, and release traceability.
- You define reliable installation, upgrade, rollback, diagnostics, and support for customer deployments while preserving future connected and SaaS options.
- You lead system-level hardware/software integration decisions covering capabilities, protocols, diagnostics, interfaces, and future software needs.
- You lead through implementation, prototypes, reviews, mentoring, and practical enablement; you partner with architects and drive adoption without becoming a bottleneck.
What You Need to Succeed
We expect the following qualifications:
- Extensive software engineering experience, typically 12+ years, with demonstrated expert-level ownership and hands-on technical leadership across multiple products, systems, or engineering teams.
- Deep hands-on experience with C# / .NET and modern backend or web development, and in implementing shared platforms, distributed systems, reusable services, and stable interfaces.
- Strong Azure DevOps and CI/CD experience across build, test, security, packaging, and deployment, as well as hands-on infrastructure-as-code experience, particularly Terraform, and repeatable environment provisioning.
- Experience with cloud platforms, containers, orchestration, identity, messaging, and observability, and knowledge of software supply-chain security, dependencies, secrets, signing, and release provenance.
- Ability to prepare locally deployed products for future cloud and SaaS options pragmatically, and to modernize established systems incrementally while protecting reliability and compatibility.
- Experience across hardware, firmware, protocols, device software, and application boundaries.
- Ability to influence architects and engineering teams through expertise, collaboration, and delivery, with strong ownership, autonomy, communication, and mentoring skills in distributed teams.
- You are a hands-on expert engineer who combines platform, cloud, DevOps, and systems depth with pragmatic product judgment. You create clear direction, implement the foundations behind it, and balance today’s deployments with future possibilities.
- You lead through expertise, delivery, mentoring, and constructive influence. You care about secure, repeatable delivery, supportability, developer experience, and capabilities teams can adopt confidently.
- AI/ML service deployment, model serving, computer vision, or industrial software experience is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in English is required.
Our Offer to You
We offer:
- Flexible working hours (depending on the role), a hybrid work model, and a wide portfolio of training opportunities
- A 40-hour work week with at least 25 vacation days per year, plus 4 to 7 additional days off between bank holidays
- Free parking and direct access to public transport
- Healthy lunches cooked onsite at our own METTLER TOLEDO restaurant, with special prices for employees
- A range of additional attractive benefits, including employee discounts at select area businesses
