Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Assembly Manager, the Assembly Lead provides direction and instruction to Assemblers in either mechanical and/or electrical groups, enabling them to complete tasks quickly, effectively, safely and with excellent quality.
  • Act as the first responder and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Tier 1 escalations within assembly cells when issues arise.
  • Troubleshoot units within their assigned Value Stream (VS).
  • Provide knowledge, experience, motivation, support and guidance on cell-related issues.
  • Assemble systems according to design specifications.
  • Update the resource planner and crating report.
  • Enter QN tags as required.
  • Monitor the Return to Stock (RTS) process.
  • Understand and utilize SAP, COOIS and DCP systems.
  • Maintain a positive work environment by communicating and performing duties in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, coworkers and management.
  • Drive production and keep Assemblers focused on daily production goals.
  • Promote and maintain a high standard of quality.
  • Monitor missing parts using the designated tracking/reporting process.
  • Conduct daily floor walks to determine cell status and recommend solutions to improve cell output.
  • Support and when needed, lead daily startup meetings, production floor walks and Gemba walks when the Assembly Manager is unavailable.
  • Escalate Tier 2 cell issues to the Assembly Manager promptly and communicate them in a clear and concise manner.
  • Conduct hands-on training for Assemblers on basic and advanced machine-building processes.
  • Train new and existing Assemblers within their assigned Value Stream.
  • Document and record assembly hours and cell-floor disturbances using the provided tools and software.
  • Support the 5S program and perform audits throughout the Assembly area as needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all Mettler Toledo safety policies.
  • Frequently bend, reach, kneel and occasionally lie on the ground to complete required work.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
What You Need to Succeed
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience, specifically in mechanical and/or electrical assembly.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, drills, pneumatic hand tools, and other industry-standard shop tools and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering assembly drawings, schematics and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Strong quality focus and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge and understanding of 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety procedures.
  • SAP knowledge and Food & Beverage industry background are a plus.
