Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
Our LabTec Project Leadership Team plays a pivotal role in driving the development of innovative laboratory solutions that set industry benchmarks. As a key interface between technical experts and management, we not only manage complex, cross-functional projects, but also foster collaboration across global teams and continuously enhance our processes. To further strengthen our dynamic team, we are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Project Leader (all genders, 100%) who will help shape the future of our product development and drive impactful projects in a collaborative international environment.

Project Leader R&D 100% (all genders)

In this role, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Lead complex cross-functional projects involving mechanical, electronic, and software engineering, ensuring strong technical understanding and alignment across all domains, with particular attention to software-driven system integration.
  • Drive projects within a full product development lifecycle that includes embedded and/or application software, ensuring alignment between hardware and software development timelines, dependencies, and release strategies.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans with challenging deadlines, adapting to changing requirements and priorities, including iterative software development cycles and incremental releases.
  • Navigate a large and international organizational structure, ensuring effective communication and stakeholder alignment across departments and sites, especially between R&D, software, and product management teams.
  • Proactively identify and manage project dependencies and risks, including software-related risks such as integration issues, requirement ambiguities, and late defect discovery, and implement robust mitigation strategies.
  • Balance strict budget constraints with ambitious project goals, including resource planning across hardware and software disciplines, forecasting and delivering within agreed financial targets.
  • Translate complex technical information, including software architecture, development progress, and system-level impacts, into clear, concise updates for senior management and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by optimizing project management processes, particularly in hybrid (agile/waterfall) environments, and collaborating with global teams and business units.
What You Need to Succeed
In this role, you will need to fulfill the following requirements to succeed:
  • Higher degree in mechanical, electrical, software engineering, or in a comparable engineering field (MSc preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a project leader or project manager, ideally in a high-tech environment with cross-functional team management responsibilities.
  • Proven experience in software product development, including working with software development teams (e.g., embedded systems, firmware, or application software), and understanding of software development processes, release cycles, and integration into physical products.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and the product development lifecycle, with hands-on experience in both classical (waterfall) and agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, SAFe).
  • Good understanding of software-specific practices such as backlog management, sprint planning, system integration, and verification/validation in a regulated or high-quality environment is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management capabilities, including the ability to explain complex technical and software-related topics.
  • Problem-solving mindset with analytical and strategic thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); German is an advantage but not required.
  • Depending on project phase, willingness to travel internationally.
Our Offer to You
  • Where applicable flexible working hours, a hybrid work model and a wide portfolio of training opportunities
  • 40h week with at least 25 vacation days per year plus 4 to 7 additional days off (i.e. in between bank holidays)
  • Free parking spaces and direct access to public transport from our facilities
  • Healthy menus cooked onsite and special prices for employees at our own METTLER TOLEDO restaurant
  • We offer a dynamic and innovation-driven corporate culture that promotes teamwork, personal development, and a passion for excellence.
