Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
Are you a proactive HSE professional with a "get-it-done" attitude and a forensic eye for detail? We are seeking a dedicated Facilities, Health, Safety and Environmental (FHSE) Officer to take ownership of site management for our Royston facility. Our X-ray Division focuses on designing and building advanced X-ray inspection systems that help detect contaminants, ensure product quality, and meet industry standards. 

As the primary point of contact for all HSE matters, you will manage compliance, mitigate risks, and drive continuous improvement across our operations. From managing building maintenance and external contractors to leading radiation safety compliance, this role offers a diverse challenge in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 

Key Responsibilities
  • HSE Leadership: Act as the first point of contact for internal staff and external government bodies/agencies regarding all HSE matters. 
  • Compliance & Risk: Manage all HSE legal requirements, stay updated on regulatory changes, and implement necessary actions. 
  • Incident Management: Lead accident/incident investigations, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventative measures. 
  • Facilities Management: Oversee hard and soft services (cleaning, security, waste, etc.) and manage service contracts such as LOLER, Fire, and Legionella. 
  • Security & Safety: Maintain site security standards (C-TPAT & Known Consignor) and manage radiation safety compliance. 
  • Contractor Management: Assess, plan, and supervise the activities of on-site contractors to ensure the safety of all parties. 
  • Training & Auditing: Organise HSE inductions and training for all staff and conduct regular internal site audits and inspections. 
  • Operations Support: Work closely with the operations team on infrastructure needs and manage premises risk planning/disaster recovery.
What You Need to Succeed
  • Minimum of 5 years in an HSE role, including experience in hard and soft facilities management
  • NEBOSH Health & Safety Certificate and NEBOSH Environmental Certificate, or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of corporate legal compliance in all Health & Safety areas and ISO 14001 awareness
  • Computer literate with excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Self-motivated individual who demonstrates sound judgement and thrives on initiative
