Role/Purpose:
The VI Project Manager will be a technical resource for the Sales & Service Team on VI Applications. Responsibility will include working on projects designated by the VI Product Line Manager. Projects will be targeted towards developing VI expertise throughout the organization (including external channel partners) with a primary focus on the Sales, Applications Engineering, Quality Engineering & Sales Engineering teams. The VI Project Manager will also provide special pre-sales project support (incl. non-SBU R&D), and post-sales support – VI Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and internal FATs (as needed) to ensure integrity and quality of systems being shipped.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Pre-Sales Support:
  • Develop applications and evaluation expertise within the Applications Engineering team and support specialized product testing as needed
  • Preform the role of Technical Applications Consultant on Vision projects, which includes supporting sales on technical questions, customer demos, site visits, testing and troubleshooting  
  • As necessary, travel to customer facilities with Regional Managers, Engineers or Channel Partners to perform site surveys, deliver technical sales presentations and ensure customer expectations are being met
  • Work with customers and PIUS/SBU to develop/implement system features and functionality
  • Lead and/or provide assistance on customer demos
  • Update, track and maintain Key Account Technical Specifications, Price Lists, URS and other pertinent documentation. Review and summarize bid packages and provide guidance to Sales Engineering to ensure quotes thoroughly capture customer requirements.
  • Notify and explain machine deficiencies discovered in FAT process to Quality management. Keep designer engineers informed of any changes made during FAT so changes are captured and administered on future units, where applicable.
  • Attend tradeshows and other marketing related events and help set-up if required
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures

Post-Sales Support:
  • Technically manage projects through all process stages: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring/controlling and closing
  • Actively participate in Technical Review meetings to ensure that the solutions on the VI Design Gates are thoroughly reviewed for accuracy, feasibility and long-term sustainability
  • Complete and/or review Design Gates
  • Develop vision application expertise within Quality Engineering team and support specialized product testing
  • Supporting service on technical questions and troubleshooting for installations and upgrade business
  • Onsite customer support for complex applications (as needed)
  • Support Order Management during VI Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and internal FATs (as needed) to ensure integrity and quality of systems being shipped
  • Notify and explain machine deficiencies discovered in FAT process to Quality management. Keep designer/engineer informed of any changes made during FAT

General:
  • Provide VI product subject matter expertise to all departments within PIUS, our Agents and Customers. Expand the VI knowledge throughout the Team
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; sustaining job related certifications, reviewing professional publications and establishing business networks.
  • Attend design review, quality, service, and production meetings as necessary
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures
  • Know, follow and help create SOPs
    • Other duties as required by the Product Line Manager

What You Need to Succeed
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • 5 years or more application experience with VI systems specifically within the packaging industry


Minimum Education / Experience Required:
  • Bachelor or equivalent technical experience in Engineering, Science or Physics.
