Laboratory Sales Specialist

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Area Business Manager the Balance Sales Representative is responsible for the sale of all Laboratory Division Product through the company distribution network in an assigned zip code territory. He/she is required to focus on the Laboratory market and motivate all dealer personnel to sell METTLER TOLEDO products in these accounts; acting as a primary company representative while maintaining the highest level of integrity plus customer/dealer relations and service while achieving the desired goals established by management. 

  • Achieve annual sales targets by promoting METTLER TOLEDO products through direct account calls and collaboration with dealer representatives. 
  • Plan and prioritize selling activities to maximize effective coverage of assigned accounts and territory. 
  • Conduct and support trade shows, cart shows, seminars, and other customer-facing events, including assisting other sales reps when needed. 
  • Train and develop dealer personnel on product applications, specifications, justification, knowledge, and company policies to strengthen independent selling capability. 
  • Identify and develop current and future accounts within the territory while maintaining accurate customer and dealer records in SAP. 
  • Manage demo inventory, travel/entertainment, telephone, and consumable budgets responsibly. 
  • Support cross-divisional sales efforts by generating leads, sharing product information on calls, inviting other divisions to local events, and coordinating with local reps. 
  • Maintain current dealer and management contact information in SAP and stay informed on company procedures, policies, and responsibilities. 
  • Collaborate with home office, management, sales, and service teams to achieve overall sales objectives and complete special assignments as needed. 
  • Monitor competitors and distributors and report relevant market activity through weekly and monthly reporting. 
  • Maintain strong product knowledge to serve as a trusted expert on applications and product justification. 
  • Represent the company professionally by maintaining integrity, appearance, sociability, and overall corporate image. 
  • Keep company vehicle and demo equipment safe, clean, and fully operational at all times. 
  • Support national promotions and help develop and execute local promotions within the assigned territory. 
  • Submit accurate weekly and monthly reports on time and route required paperwork to management. 
  • Process leads in SAP, maintain dealer records, and review lead results with dealer reps and management. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Need to Succeed
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Natural Sciences, plus 2 or more years of sales experience in scientific instruments or equipment preferred. 
  • Significant experience with ERP and/or CRM systems; SAP preferred. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to make presentations to senior groups and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellence in interpersonal/communication skills, professional maturity, and the ability to work with minimum supervision - a self-starter with strong organization, prioritization and time management skills 
  • Strategic thinking, and willingness to do so within a collaborative team environment 
  • Technical competence and knowledge depending on product line of support; applicable examples include engineering, biology, analytical chemistry or material science 
  • Some products of support strongly benefit with candidates with Laboratory experience with automated lab analytical instruments 
  • Prior product management experience supporting a technical product is ideal; however, a candidate who is looking to move from the laboratory, sales or other technical discipline into a product management position and possesses the requisite technical acumen will be considered
