Lab Sales Specialist
Location Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States Date posted December 02, 2025 Job ID 20651 Pay Range $115,000 Total Compensation at Target AchievementRainin Instrument, a leader in precision liquid handling solutions, is seeking a motivated and results-driven Sales Representative to join our dynamic team. This role will focus on managing key accounts and driving sales growth within pharmaceutical, biotech, academic, government, and clinical sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage key accounts and implement diverse strategies to meet and exceed quarterly sales targets.
- Partner with pharmaceutical, biotech, academic, government, and clinical customers to grow the Rainin liquid handling business.
- Sell liquid handling instruments, consumables, calibration services, and asset management products.
- Plan and participate in value-added onsite and online events such as vendor shows, Good Pipetting Practice Seminars, Business and Service Reviews, Asset Assessments, and product demonstrations.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of pipetting techniques, applications, ergonomics, and maintenance.
- Promote products through direct sales and support marketing initiatives with tailored account-specific materials.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through cold calling and penetration of new segments.
- Seek and promote Rainin 360+ solutions within accounts.
- Maintain territory data, leads, accounts, contacts, and sales activities using SAP CRM.
- Travel within assigned territory to engage with regular and prospective customers.
Planning and Reporting:
- Manage daily territory activities and sales pipeline using SAP CRM.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the District Manager.
Other Duties:
- Support national and regional trade shows as needed.
- Maintain and enhance technical expertise via Rainin LMS training, MT Knowledge Hub, and other learning resources.
- Adhere to company policies regarding expenses, training, and product management.
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in a life sciences discipline or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of laboratory experience or customer-facing experience, preferably within life sciences.
- Technical competency in product knowledge, product application and product positioning. Strong understanding of the consultative sales approach.
- Attention to detail including excellent organizational, communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Decision-making: Ability to analyze data, evaluate options, and make decisions.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving competency in handling product issues, sales issues, and customer issues.
- Good time management skills in implementing and executing successful plans of action that balance sales activities with customer needs and account development.
- Demonstrated ability to foster excellent relationships, trust, and credibility at all levels of the organization, with the ability to create a partnership atmosphere with internal and external resources.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills with personal computer software in a business environment. Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required. Experience with CRM systems and other sales-related software preferred.
- Excellent presentation skills, including the ability to communicate information clearly and concisely in person and over the phone.
