Export Control Product Classification Engineer
Location Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia Date posted May 07, 2026 Job ID 21996- Evaluate products, technologies, software, and technical data to determine export control classifications against US EAR, EU, CH, CN dual use regulations and licensing requirements including assessment against Foreign Direct Product rule.
- Review technical drawings, engineering documentation, product specifications, and technology transfers to ensure compliance with international export control regulations.
- Maintain export control records, classifications, licenses, and audit-ready documentation to ensure full regulatory compliance and traceability.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, supply chain, and sales teams while driving process improvements, digitalization initiatives, and stakeholder training.
- Deep experience in export control compliance, particularly with classification and technical understanding of products.
- Expertise in Dual-Use regulations, US re-export laws, and customs procedures.
- Ability to understand complex technical products and technologies.
- Proficient in SAP or similar global trade management systems.
- Contribute to resolving classification challenges and improving workflows together with cross‑functional teams.
- Help maintain the product classification database and contribute to reliable and consistent data across systems.
- University Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Physics.
- Solid years of experience in product classification
- Ability to assess and classify items used without supervision
- Good communication skills to mobilize organizational units outside the ‘home organization’ to gather information necessary to carry out well-founded export control classification decisions
- Advanced language skills in English must and or Chinese of advantage
- Good experience in SAP and Legal Control Product Classification module as an active user of advantage
- Good experience working with US, EU, CN and Swiss export control regulations
- Structured and detailed workstyle and documentation ability
- Supply Chain Knowledge of advantage
