We are looking for a UK Tax Manager to oversee Corporate Income Tax for Mettler-Toledo’s UK subsidiaries. Key responsibilities include tax planning, compliance, transfer pricing, R&D tax credits, Patent Box claims, cash tax forecasting, and handling various tax projects. You will report to a UK Finance Controller and collaborate closely with our Group Tax team in the US, external tax advisors, and internal partners such as Treasury, Legal, and Accounting.

This role is based in one of our UK offices in Manchester, Royston, or Leicester.

What You'll Do
  • Prepare and manage UK corporation tax returns, computations, and payments for all UK subsidiaries.
  • Oversee transfer pricing compliance and reporting.
  • Support R&D tax credit claims and Patent Box applications.
  • Assist with tax planning initiatives, including reorganisations, supply chain optimisation, debt financing, and responses to UK tax reform.
  • Provide tax input for quarterly and annual financial reporting, including tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and effective tax rate analysis under UK GAAP/IFRS.
  • Build models to forecast cash taxes and assess legislative impacts.
  • Ensure compliance with tax and legal requirements for UK entities.
  • Manage HMRC enquiries, audits, and disputes.
  • Maintain legal entity compliance and tax registrations.
  • Support international tax matters like withholding taxes and treaty claims.
What You Need to Succeed
  • Bachelors degree required in relevant field
  • CTA, ACA, or ACCA qualification preferred
  • Minimum 3+ years post qualified experience in UK corporate tax matters, preferably with a multinational manufacturing company, Big Four firm, or a combination of both
  • Familiarity with UK tax compliance software (e.g., Alphatax, OneSource, or similar)
  • Familiarity with Hyperion Financial Management and SAP is advantageous
  • Travel requirements - Minimal travel required, with occasional trips to other UK sites, US headquarters, or for HMRC meetings.
