Service Business Development Manager ( Transport & Logistics)

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
The Service Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving profitable growth, strategic market development, and customer penetration of the Transport & Logistics (T&L) Service business globally. The role serves as the primary link between customers, Market Organizations (MOs), and the Transport & Logistics Strategic Business Unit (SBU), ensuring the successful development, positioning, and execution of service solutions throughout the customer lifecycle.


The BDM develops and executes service growth strategies, drives service portfolio penetration, supports key customer engagements, and collaborates with Market Organizations to increase service revenue, customer retention, and value realization. This role combines strong commercial leadership, market expertise, and technical understanding to accelerate service business performance within the Transport & Logistics industry.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Development:
  • Optmize our installation sales success, making Service a strong part of our offering to win more business.
  • Develop and execute service growth strategies aligned with company objectives for the Transport & Logistics market.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new service business opportunities across parcel express, warehousing, distribution centers, freight hubs / terminals, airports, and other related industries.
  • Drive growth in recurring revenue streams through service agreements, preventive maintenance contracts, remote monitoring, digital services, and lifecycle management programs.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify customer needs, industry trends, competitive positioning, and emerging technologies.
  • Create and manage business development pipelines across the entire product lifecycle and achieve annual sales and revenue targets.

Strategic Business Development:
  •  Develop and execute the global Transport & Logistics Service growth strategy in alignment with SBU objectives.
  • Drive service revenue growth, profitability, and service portfolio penetration across key markets and regions.
  • Collaborate with Market Organizations to establish country-specific service growth strategies and execution plans.
  • Identify market trends, customer needs, regulatory changes, and emerging opportunities impacting Transport & Logistics customers.
  • Collect and analyze Voice of Customer (VOC) feedback to identify unmet customer needs and service innovation opportunities.
  • Lead initiatives to harmonize service products, pricing strategies, and service value propositions across regions.
  • Maintain market intelligence regarding competitors, industry developments, and customer service practices.
  • Develop value-selling strategies and competitive differentiation plans to increase market share.

Service Portfolio & Innovation:
  • Own and promote the Transport & Logistics Service Portfolio on a global basis.
  • Identify opportunities for new service offerings, lifecycle solutions, digital services, preventive maintenance programs, and service agreements.
  • Support New Service Development and Innovation (NSDI) initiatives as a key stakeholder.
  • Recommend service enhancements that improve customer operational performance, reliability, compliance, and productivity.
  • Develop and maintain service segment requirements, business cases, and customer value propositions.
  • Create and maintain value-selling tools, ROI calculators, presentations, and customer-facing business justification materials.
  • Supports the deployment of new service offerings by partnering with Market Organizations on launch planning, value proposition communication, and customer positioning to accelerate market adoption and revenue growth.
  • Provides launch, hypercare, and ongoing commercial support to Market Organizations, leveraging service product expertise and best practices to drive successful execution and long-term business growth.

Global Customer Service Engagement:
  • Build strategic relationships with global key accounts and major Transport & Logistics customers.
  • Understand customer business models, operational challenges, service processes, and long-term strategic objectives.
  • Lead and support negotiations of regional and global service agreements.
  • Facilitate customer workshops, executive reviews, demonstrations, webinars, and Global Technology Center events.
  • Drive customer standardization initiatives and promote enterprise-wide adoption of service solutions.
  • Support customer escalations by facilitating solutions that balance customer satisfaction and business objectives.
  • Expand successful service implementations across regional and global customer operations through account radiations and replication strategies.

Market Organization (MO) Enablement:
  • Partner closely with Service Leaders and commercial teams within Market Organizations to drive service growth.
  • Support service product launches, implementation plans, and hypercare activities.
  •  Provide market expertise and coaching to improve service opportunity conversion rates.
  • Engage directly in large opportunities and strategic projects to increase win probability and customer confidence.
  • Share best practices, customer success stories, and account radiation opportunities across regions.
  • Deliver webinars, seminars, eDemonstrations, and customer engagement programs that strengthen market differentiation.
  • Support training initiatives in value selling, consultative selling, customer penetration, and account development methodologies.
What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation Management, or related field.
  • MBA or advanced business qualification preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in service business development, strategic account management, service sales, or commercial leadership.
  • Experience within Transport & Logistics, Supply Chain, Material Handling, Warehouse Automation, Transportation Infrastructure, or Industrial Services.
  • Demonstrated success driving service revenue growth and customer penetration in a B2B environment.
  • Experience working with global customers and cross-functional international teams.
  • Experience with Value-selling methodologies and ROI-based customer engagement.
