Senior Mechanical Engineer

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
In our global AutoChem business unit, we develop synthesis, sampling and reaction analysis tools for scientists in pharmaceutical and chemical industries. We provide scientists the information they need to deliver life-changing products. Join the hardware engineering team at our Nänikon-Greifensee site and support the fast-growing business opportunity within our unit as a Senior Mechanical Engineer 80 – 100% (all genders)

You are an individual with a proactive mindset, you embrace cross-functional collaboration, take ownership and accountability for your area of expertise and leadership, to achieve the business unit objectives. You ensure the success of your team while actively supporting the achievements of others.

In this role, your responsibilities would include: 
  • You will be responsible for the development of high precision laboratory products solutions with a focus on automated reactor and sampling technologies
  • You will design mechatronic assemblies from concept through to series production integrating market and technical requirements
  • You will validate your designs for market-ready precision instruments and maintain them throughout the entire product lifecycle to support business continuity
  • You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary and cross functional team of mechanical, electrical, firmware, software, manufacturing and test engineers as well as with project and product managers
  • You are responsible for system integration across our entire product portfolio, as well as for developing and documenting the corresponding concepts
  • You will also work with procurement specialists and external partners to ensure a robust supply chain of key mechanical parts
What You Need to Succeed
Following requirements are necessary for this role: 
  • We are looking for a proactive engineer (ETH/FH) specialized in mechanical engineering or an equivalent field
  • You bring at least 5 years of work experience in the development of devices within an industrial environment. Experience with the design of analytical instruments is a significant plus
  • You are familiar with the development of mechatronic assemblies
  • Through your previous project work, you have gained an overview and experience in applying modern product development methods
  • Your flair for conceptual thinking, ability to set priorities, and your accumulated experience with simulation tools (Matlab, FEM, etc.) as well as modern 3D CAD tools (PTC Creo, or similar) complete your profile. Experience with TeamCenter and SAP is an advantage
  • Furthermore, you have fluent communication skills in English, German is a plus
