Technical Services Engineer Description 

The Retail Software Solutions Development group designs and develops software solutions for Mettler Toledo next generation retail products and tools. Software developers write requirements, work with system architects, and interface with internal Mettler Toledo customers, distributors, and end users. Individual work with international colleagues on group projects. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (Approximate % of time spent in each) 

45% Development/Support/Troubleshooting within Fast track teams for retail solution integration. 
25% Plant/Service/Customer Support. 
20% Software validation, writing test cases and requirements. 
10% New software analysis, architecture, design and development.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 

This position has a travel requirement of 15-20% including both domestic and international travel (by commercial or personal means, including economy class air travel) for company meetings and customer visits. The ability to obtain a passport with valid visas for entry into countries throughout the world is required.
What You Need to Succeed
QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Takes business problems to solutions with minimal need of additional resources. 
• Has experience in all phases of a mainstream Iterative and Object-Oriented Software Development Lifecycles (SDLC). SAFe framework is a plus. 
• Has full understanding of good software development practices and a focus on delivering quality software.
• Highly organized and have a thorough understanding of business practices. 
• Development: Full Stack developer. 
• Micro service architecture (JGroups/Publish-Subscriber software patterns) 
• IT Security principles 
• Containerization of software components and services (Kubernetes, Docker containers, Podman) 
• UX/UI design experience and analysis. 
• Databases: Design and Development using Sybase SQL Anywhere, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL and Oracle preferred. 
• Core knowledge and understanding for DevOps principals. 
• Automated build systems 
• Real-time application performance tuning. 
• Network communications, client/server applications within wired and wireless communication areas as well as development in this area 
• Linux (OpenSUSE/Debian/RedHat) administration and development. 
• Windows administration and development. 
• Embedded system analysis and troubleshooting a plus.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
