Staff Accountant I

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant role performs essential tasks around fixed assets and cost accounting including beginning to end fixed asset creation, monthly checks for assets under construction, periodic cost rolls, and updating transfer pricing. Additional responsibilities will be focused on providing timely and accurate information to business partners across the company in finance, marketing, manufacturing, and operations—working with teams in multiple countries, both remote and in person.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Close and General Ledger Accounting
  • Perform and prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and close procedures for monthly, quarterly, and annual closes.
  • Prepare account reconciliations and expense analysis.
  • Prepare Budget vs Actual reports and other financial reports.
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and duties as assigned.

Fixed Asset and Capital Expenditures
  • Manage capital expenditure requests, approvals, tracking, and reporting for timely capitalization.
  • Maintain organized record of capital expenditures support files.
  • Prepare forecasts for cash flow and depreciation.
  • Perform annual fixed asset validation.

Cost Accounting
  • Perform periodic costing updates and transfer pricing.
  • Perform cost and profitability analysis.
  • Assist with annual cost roll and data updates.

Other
  • Maintain record of and enforce SOX controls for key areas.
  • Provide audit support when applicable.
  • File property tax form with local government annually.
  • Minimal travel required – Tijuana, MX once a month and Vacaville, CA once or twice a year.

What You Need to Succeed

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, Accounting preferred

  • Solid US GAAP accounting knowledge
  • 2+ years of experience in an accounting or finance role, costing and fixed assets experience preferred
  • Maintain a high standard of organization, collaboration, integrity, and work ethic
  • Strong ability to communicate (verbal and written) concisely with all levels of the organization
  • Analytical, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence
  • Microsoft Excel (advanced), Word, PowerPoint experience required
  • SAP experience preferred
