Summary
The Mettler-Toledo Product Inspection Field Service Technicians (FST) are required to provide World Class support to our customers through start-ups, audits, maintenance, repair, and training of Safeline X-Ray, Safeline Metal Detectors, Hi-Speed Checkweighers, or CI Vision machines. PI FST's are responsible for managing all aspects of field service support including the following: communications between customers and the service department, effective scheduling, detailed preparation of written reports and documentation, and maintenance of job assignments, while always keeping in mind to follow MT PI procedures and best practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Satisfy all Safety Requirements for both MT-PI and Customer Sites
  • Attend tier calls led by a Regional Service Manager
  • Efficiently execute scheduled service calls as directed from Dispatch or Management while taking into account cost, time, and customer needs/expectations
  • Develop and maintain good customer relationships; Become the customer's trusted advisor
  • Identify root cause of service issues (first time fix)
  • Accurately complete and submit all service reports and documentation per service activity, timesheets, and expense reports in a timely manner
  • Keep up with ongoing technical training
  • Weekend/afterhours work as required based on workload and rotation
  • Maintain company supplied equipment, tools, and inventory

What You Need to Succeed
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate's degree in Electronics or Engineering Technology, or equivalent work experience preferred.

Experience & Skills
  • Work diligently and professionally in the pursuit of department and company goals.
  • Must have a significant orientation toward detail and be very thorough in the execution of these tasks.
  • Must be able to work efficiently in a fast paced, high volume environment including the flexibility of change.
  • Must be a "self starter" who will initiate corrective actions without specific direction from supervisor.
  • Outstanding ability to adhere to deadlines. Must be well focused on the issue of time consciousness.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Possess conflict management skills and the ability to work in an organizational structure to determine when and who to ask for help as needed. 
  • Be able to interface with other departments and teams in a professional and cooperative manner
  • Be able to display a structured focus yet demonstrate agility and change direction as needed.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use all types of hand tools and digital test equipment
  • Knowledge of mechanics, electronics, and distribution systems
  • Working mechanical knowledge of conveyor systems
  • Working knowledge of AC and DC electrical distribution systems
  • Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and the ability to read blue prints and schematics
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment and meeting tight time constraints
  • Fluency in English required and Spanish a plus 
  • Trained or in the process of being trained in 1 of the 5 major areas (MD, XR, CW, VI, and ProdX) – Refer to the Field Service Technician (FST) Advanced Proficiency Policy 
  • Successful GPM results: "Meets Expectations" or better in all categories

Travel
  • 100% US and occasional international travel is required - Frequent overnight travel is common
  • The FST will possess or be able to obtain a valid passport
  • The individual must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, pass a motor vehicle record check, and have the unrestricted ability to obtain rental vehicles
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed, based on the needs of the business.

Physical Demands
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
  • Constantly works around moving mechanical parts in conditions that include cold/hot temperatures and humid environments
  • Occasionally works in damp/wet environments to include meat & diary plants. Occasionally exposed to allergens, i.e. peanuts
  • Occasionally works in explosive environments
  • Noise level may by loud at times
  • The ability to operate large industry machinery as well as handle mechanical and electrical tools as needed
  • Ability to constantly lift and move tools and equipment up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to regularly climb (ascend/descend) stairs and ladders
  • Constantly stands, walks, stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls
  • Constantly positions self to service machinery in tight and/or dark spaces
  • Must be able to constantly visually inspect machinery, computers, tools and parts
  • Ability to constantly operate a motor vehicle, drive long distances, and regularly sit for long period while traveling by car or plane
  • Occasional shift differences (early morning/late night) as needed 
  • Occasional 10 hour + days as needed
