Senior Product Owner – iC Software Applications

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
Within the AutoChem Business Unit, we build software that powers automated lab reactors and real time analytical probes used in scientific and industrial research around the world. Our systems help chemists and engineers design, execute, monitor, and analyze experiments with greater precision, safety, and efficiency.

Our product landscape spans reactor touchscreen terminal software, a web-based experiment orchestration platform, software for creation, execution, data management, visualization, and reporting, local instrument control software, and field service and production assembly support software. We work at the intersection of hardware and software, where engineering quality has a direct impact on product reliability and customer trust. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Senior Product Owner – iC Software Applications 100% (all genders) based at our global headquarters in Nänikon-Greifensee (close to Zurich), Switzerland.

About the Role

The Senior Product Owner is responsible for supporting and executing on the product strategy, shaping roadmaps, and delivery of products within the iC Software Platform. Working closely with development teams, customers, application specialists, and commercial stakeholders, the Senior Product Owner defines product direction, sets priorities, and delivers impactful solutions across a complex and highly interconnected software landscape, while ensuring customer value through strong leadership in an agile development environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Product Lifecycle Management
    • Define, communicate, and maintain product goals, and priorities.
    • Manage the complete software product lifecycle, including ideation, requirements definition, development, release, adoption, optimization, and end-of-life planning.
    • Develop and maintain product roadmaps aligned with Product Management, Autochem’s software strategy, customer needs, and market opportunities.
    • Lead product planning and prioritization across large, highly interconnected projects and product platforms, ensuring alignment of dependencies, risks, and business outcomes.
  • Product Ownership & Delivery
    • Own and prioritize the product backlog, translating business and user needs into clear requirements and user stories.
    • Partner with development teams to deliver high-quality solutions, balancing scope, priorities, timelines, resources, and technical considerations.
    • Guide releases, adoption, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring products deliver measurable business and customer outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Product Performance
    • Provide strong leadership within a cross-functional agile environment, fostering alignment, transparency, accountability, and collaboration.
    • Align stakeholders on roadmap priorities, progress, risks, dependencies, and key decisions across complex initiatives.
    • Monitor product performance, customer feedback, and market trends to guide product evolution and support commercial activities.
What You Need to Succeed
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
    • Additional education or training in Product Management, Agile methodologies, or Business Administration is advantageous.
    • Certification such as Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), or equivalent is a benefit.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in software product management, product ownership, or similar roles, including experience as a Senior Product Owner.
    • Proven success delivering complex enterprise software products in agile development environments.
    • Experience leading large-scale, highly interconnected projects involving multiple teams, stakeholders, and dependencies.
    • Experience in scientific, industrial, or chemical engineering software environments is a strong advantage.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong product ownership capabilities, including roadmap management, backlog management, prioritization, and product lifecycle management.
    • Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align cross-functional teams and drive execution.
    • Customer-first mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, translating user needs into valuable product outcomes.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to discuss complex technical and business topics effectively in English; German language skills are a plus.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10%, including extended overnight trips and some international travel.
