The AutoChem (AUC) group is a rapidly growing, strategic, high-profile business within METTLER TOLEDO. We provide integrated solutions to research scientists in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and chemical industries. Our instruments enable scientists to prepare, synthesize, analyze and scale up more products in shorter periods than they can with conventional chemistry techniques.

The Reaction Engineering (RXE) Technology and Application Consultant (TAC) – Europe, is responsible for technical and applications support and market development for the METTLER TOLEDO (MT) RXE/CSS business.
The RXE TAC's are respected in the field for their technical expertise and are constantly learning about our customers products, processes, and new application spaces. They are partners with the industry’s top development chemists and chemical engineers providing technical support for a wide range of applications in pharmaceutical, petrochemical, and high value chemical industries.
This position is very team-oriented, working closely with various account management teams, the RXE/CSS Marketing Group, Regional Sales Manager, and TAC Team Leader.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop strong application knowledge and serve as recognized expert for in-situ reaction monitoring technology, process optimization and development;
  • Participate as an active member of a technical sales team. Provide consultative-based technical selling support for Reaction Engineering product line, using same tools to create also new opportunities. Perform application feasibility tests (AFTs) to support technical sales opportunity development;
  • Identify and develop application solutions that provide high value to the pharmaceutical, petrochemical, and high-value chemicals markets;
  • Create and present technical papers on important applications at key industry seminars, conferences and symposiums;
  • Develop strong technical product knowledge as well as a working knowledge of competitive and complementary technologies and solutions;
  • Direct the transfer of knowledge and data from application feasibility studies, industrial and academic applications and technical journals and publications to product management for development;
  • Customer support and development to include on-site training, technical support and application feasibility studies and pre/post-sale support;
  • Specific customer applications support, consulting and training of new and existing users


What You Need to Succeed
  • Degree in Chemistry or Indusrtial Chemistry required;
  • 1-3 years industry experience as organic chemist, spectroscopist or process development chemist;
  • Experience with organic chemistry, knowledge of reaction calorimetry;
  • Experience in process development, Process Analytical technology, pharmaceutical industry, specialty chemicals or industrial chemical manufacturing preferred;
  • Open and effective communication style, excellent public presentation skills, strong people skills, cross- organizational teamwork and the ability to interact with and influence the direction of key opinion leaders in the industry;
  • Affinity with equipment sales or other commercial working environments;
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a cooperative team environment and focus on individual, time dependent projects with minimal direct supervision;
  • Analytical, assertiveness, creativity and effective problem-solving skills;
  • Solid Skills in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Excellent in English in both written and spoken words;
  • Willingness to travel in Europe up to 60% of the time
