Technology and Application Consultant
Location London, England Date posted November 11, 2024 Job ID 16474As the TAC for Reaction Engineering and Chemistry Sampling Solutions (RXE/CSS) you will be responsible for pre- and post-sale technical applications support and market development activities for the METTLER TOLEDO RXE/CSS Business. Our TACs are highly respected in the field for their technical expertise and are constantly learning about our customers' products, processes, and new application spaces. We seek a partner for the industry's top development chemists and chemical engineers providing technical support for a wide range of applications in the pharmaceutical, academic, and high-value specialty chemicals industries.
This position is highly team-oriented, working closely with various account management teams, the RXE/CSS Marketing Group, Regional Sales Managers, and other TACs. Geographical travel is involved to customer sites as well as the top specialist conferences. We anticipate about 60 percent expected travel with international travel.
- Develop extensive application knowledge and become a recognized expert for RXE/CSS solutions
- Actively participate as a member of a technical sales team, providing consultative-based technical selling support for Reaction Engineering and Chemistry Sampling Solutions product lines
- Conduct application feasibility tests (AFTs) to support technical sales opportunity development
- Identify and develop application solutions that provide high value to the academic, pharmaceutical, and high-value specialty chemical markets
- Create and deliver technical papers highlighting applications and industry trends at key seminars, conferences, and symposia
- Develop strong technical product knowledge and acquire a working knowledge of competitive and complimentary technologies and solutions
- Provide customer support and development, including on-site training for new and existing users of our technology, technical application support, and pre-/post-sale support
- Directly transfer knowledge and data from application feasibility studies, industrial and academic applications, technical journals, and publications to product management for development
- Actively provide input for new products, software, and service offerings to product management.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemisty required; Master's or Ph.D. degree preferred
- 3-5 years of industry experience as a process development specialist and/or process safety chemist
- Experience with automated synthesis workstations, safety technology, and/or calorimetry
- Preferably, experience in safety studies and process development, Process Analytical Technology, pharmaceutical industry, specialty chemicals, or industrial chemical manufacturing
- Possess an open and effective communication style, excellent public presentation skills, strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, and the ability to interact with, and influence the direction of, key opinion leaders in the industry
- Affinity with equipment sales or other commercial working environments
- Analytical, assertive, creative, and effective problem-solving skills
- Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Willingness to travel worldwide, with up to 60% travel anticipated.
