Service Technician
Location Newton, Massachusetts, United States Date posted November 05, 2025 Job ID 20689 Pay Range $18 to $20 (Plus Commission)We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Pipette Repair Technician to join our service team. This role is essential in ensuring the highest quality repair and maintenance of pipettes and related equipment, supporting our commitment to customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble pipettes and related equipment with precision.
- Perform thorough inspections on returned units to identify component defects.
- Complete all required documentation including work sheets, part usage tallies, and repair estimates.
- Expedite priority orders efficiently through the database system to meet customer needs.
- Ensure all repairs meet established quality standards and turn-around-time requirements.
- Follow customer instructions closely regarding repairs and additional parts requests.
- Conduct testing and evaluation of pipettes to ensure they meet performance standards.
- Maintain accurate database entries and manage parts inventory and accounting.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Receive and log incoming repair orders; verify package contents for accuracy.
- Use radiation safety monitors to check for contamination and label incoming packages appropriately.
- Support the Saturday Service Program by working Saturdays as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the team and service goals.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Minimum of 1 year of related experience in Manufacturing, Instrumentation repair and maintenance, and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and prior work experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present verbal information to customers and other employees of the organization.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Basic knowledge of computers and a working knowledge of common Microsoft Office programs.
