Laboratory Key Account Manager

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
This role is tasked with driving and nurturing business for designated North American key accounts, focusing on achieving profitable and sustainable growth through proactive strategic account management and building executive relationships. It serves as the main point of contact for the headquarters operations of the selected NA key accounts, handling strategic initiatives, product standardizations, and escalations. Additionally, this position collaborates closely with Sales and Service Managers to develop and execute sales strategies for the targeted accounts. 

  • Achievement of assigned sales targets and business development objectives; provides and manages all sales functions for the product line. This includes development and implementation of both strategic and tactical sales plans to meet stated sales revenue objectives. 
  • Coordinates closely with respective solutions product champions. 
  • Develops and maintains dynamic pipeline of sales opportunities within assigned territory. 
  • Responsible for coordinating closely with MT LSS Reps, instrument reps and field service groups on a regular basis to generate new leads, develop opportunities, generate customer proposals to leverage entire METTLER TOLEDO lab product and service portfolio. 
  • Working with field personnel, spearheads strategic campaigns to create mutual high-value relationships between customers and METTLER TOLEDO. 
  • Performs technical presentations and demonstrations involving laboratory instrumentation and/or software to existing or potential customers. Conducts presentations/demonstrations primarily in person or by using conferencing/virtual technologies where appropriate and prudent. 
  • Utilize a consultative sales approach to create divisional & national opportunities, manage the sales cycle, defend our competitive position and develop strong customer relationships. Develop national strategic partnerships with existing and targeted high-profile Key Accounts 
  • Conveys METTLER TOLEDO total solution approach including METTLER TOLEDO service, validation, training, and other professional services to accompany placement of the products or software into the customer environment. 
  • Post-sale responsibilities include coordinating the overall process of system installation and training between customer and MT resources to ensure successful customer start. 
  • Manages time, territory and expenses within budget while maximizing productivity Use of MT-provided CRM, communication and other technology and territory development tools in accordance with Spinnaker requirements and frequency. 
  • Fully develop current product knowledge capabilities, applications, product justification in order to be recognized as the expert in the field 
  • Responsibility to develop penetration plans for all NA Key Accounts & coordinate divisional KA activities and ensure execution 
  • Fully support our dealer channel in a timely, effective and professional manner. Including training and development of their skills to represent and promote METTLER TOLEDO products and services.

What You Need to Succeed
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in the field of Chemistry, Natural Sciences or Business. 
  • 5 years of Field Sales experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Prior knowledge of the weighing or analytical instrument sales market is desirable. 
  • Significant experience with ERP and/or CRM systems; SAP preferred. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to make presentations to senior groups and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellence in interpersonal/communication skills, professional maturity, and the ability to work with minimum supervision - a self-starter with strong organization, prioritization and time management skills 
  • Strategic thinking, and willingness to do so within a collaborative team environment 
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. 
  • Strong customer orientation with ability to develop executive level relationships. 
  •  Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to read communication styles of customers and team members and interact effectively 
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, customers, internal departments and third party subcontractors and vendors 
  • Technical competence and knowledge depending on product line of support; applicable examples include engineering, biology, analytical chemistry or material science
