Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

As an Embedded Software Engineering Intern on the Mechatronics team, you will work alongside experienced engineers to develop software and firmware for our pipettes. You will assist with the design, implementation, testing, and documentation of software/firmware solutions for these embedded systems. You will work with cross-functional teams, including Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Quality Control, and Manufacturing, to ensure that products are designed and tested to meet functional requirements, regulatory requirements, and quality standards. Through this internship, you'll gain a better understanding of how software interacts with sensors, actuators, and other hardware components used in precision instruments. 

The job responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the design, implementation, testing, and documentation of firmware solutions for pipettes
  • Developing firmware for embedded systems, wireless communication applications (preferably BLE), and/or mobile applications (IOS or Android)
  • Collaborate with Mechanical and Electrical Engineering teams to integrate software/firmware solutions into functional systems
  • Perform feasibility studies, prototyping, testing, and documentation of new product concepts and improvements to existing products
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of software/firmware design and testing documentation, including requirements, specifications, test plans, and test reports
What You Need to Succeed
  • Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with an anticipated graduation date of December 2026 - May 2028
  • 2+ years of programming experience, including class projects and internships required; 1-2 years of embedded systems programming, with familiarity with embedded systems and their integration with mechanical and electrical components strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of software/firmware design, programming, and testing principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Previous experience with mechatronics or pipette design is a plus
  • Proficient in at least one of the following areas:
    • Programming embedded systems in C or C++
    • Experience with wireless communication protocols, preferably BLE
    • Experience writing IOS or Android Applications
