Senior Field Service Technician
Standort Columbia, Maryland, USA Veröffentlichungsdatum 10. September 2026 Anzeigen-ID 23057 Gehaltsspanne $27 - $35 / hr- Perform advanced troubleshooting, repairs, installations, calibrations, and preventative maintenance on industrial weighing equipment
- Diagnose communication issues between weighing equipment, computers, networks, printers, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
- Configure and support scale terminals, proprietary software, printer templates, and integrated customer systems
- Assist with specialized equipment projects, including weigh-in-motion systems, dimensioning equipment, checkweighers, tank scales, hoppers, and heavy-duty weighing systems
- Lead or support customer projects and coordinate with sales teams, contractors, technicians, and other stakeholders
- Provide professional technical support to customers and assist other technicians with troubleshooting when needed
- Maintain accurate service records, daily documentation, timekeeping, inventory, and required state or county Weights & Measures paperwork
- Meet customer uptime, productivity, quality, safety, and service performance expectations
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in accordance with company policies
- Participate in an on-call rotation and support service sales by identifying and submitting customer opportunities
- Collaborate with internal teams and external customers to promote a professional, responsive, and solutions-focused service experience
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company fleet and driving requirements
- High school diploma/GED required; associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent education preferred
- 5+ years of progressive experience in field service, electro-mechanical repair, industrial weighing, instrumentation, or a related technical field
- Demonstrated success in customer-facing or commercial field service environments, including independent work at customer sites
- Advanced knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, troubleshooting methods, PC networking, software configuration, and equipment integration
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues with minimal supervision and provide guidance to less-experienced technicians
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required Weights and Measures licenses and certifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to use proprietary service, diagnostic, and reporting systems
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, sales teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders
- Willingness and ability to travel overnight approximately 10% of the time, with travel potentially increasing to 25% based on business needs
- Ability to work overtime, averaging 10–15% and potentially up to 25% as required
- Must reside within the assigned service territory
- Ability to work safely in environments involving chemicals, solvents, machinery, vehicle traffic, dust, dirt, cold temperatures, and fumes
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment and comply with all safety policies; this safety-sensitive position is subject to drug testing
- Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally handle heavier loads, including carrying, pushing, and pulling
- Ability to routinely crouch, stoop, kneel, bend, and perform other physical activities required for safe and effective field service work
