Embedded Software Engineer
Location Manchester, England Date posted March 13, 2025 Job ID 18891- Develop software for metal detection systems and supporting applications through the full life cycle.
- Have a collaborative approach to software development within a multi-functional R&D team, working with software, hardware & test engineers to deliver market leading products.
- Continually strive for improvement through innovation - we strive to produce the highest quality software using industry best practices and processes.
- Create and maintain technical documentation using defined technical documentation templates & techniques.
- Maintain watching brief on development of new technologies, techniques and methodologies.
- Travel as individual projects necessitate (minimal and infrequent). MT is a large multi-national company and there are often opportunities to travel and collaborate with colleagues worldwide.
- Bachelor's degree in electronics, physics, computer science or another relevant engineering related degree, or significant industry experience.
- Strong understanding of embedded system design patterns and software architecture.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Clear communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and document designs.
- Strong hands-on experience of developing embedded applications software, in C, on bare-metal systems, ideally Arm Cortex M and TI C28x cores.
- Experience of developing supporting software in a high-level language, preferably Python, C# or C++.
- Experience of hardware interfacing, communication protocols such as SPI and CAN, and developing for real time systems.
- Ability to assess, consult, design, code and validate solutions to customer needs.
